Best practice in the SQL DB for All in One SW Main Polling Engines running as Azure VM?

Folks,

My existing Solarwinds Orion 2022 Primary Polling Engine & SQL Server 2019 Standard has been configured and installed by my predecessor as a single Azure VM ( 1 socket 8 cores & 32 GB vRAM)

1. May I know the best practice in deploying the Primary Polling Engines in Azure as VM?
2. Can the SQL Database recoverability be set to simple to avoid transaction logs to grow and filling up the 1 TB C:\ drive?

Best practice is really depending on the size of your installation. In a small one sure you can have Orion and SQL on the same server but if you grow in load I would recommend splitting them up. 

Yes you can set the recovery mode to simple, thinkt it's actually recommended unless you use SQL Availability groups. I don't think you have that here. I would never put the SQL log file on c:. Best practice for SQL performance is to split up at least data, log and tempdb on separate disks. None of them on C:. 

If the log files are filling up you probably have issues with backup-jobs. The logfile fills up until a logbackup is taken. So if using full recovery mode you must make sure the backups are working. Monitor them and the disks with Orion ;-)
