Traffic statistic polls missing

I have NPM and SAM in our environment and i have been facing this issue for quite some time now that interface traffic statistic polls are being missed on random intervals.

There is no spike of CPU or RAM on that device at that time and these missing polls are very much random and occurs at random frequency.

Moreover, polling completion field always shown that polling is 100 percent complete.

This is creating a mess in my environment and i want help from you guys. Your cooperation and guidance would be highly appreciated.

The issue could be a quite few different things. It could be network related, server related, SolarWinds related, or a combination of all the above. You might need to get more specific so the problem can get isolated.

Are the interfaces that are having issues polling on a LAN or WAN connection?

Are the interfaces that are having issues polling in the same VLAN?

Do the interfaces that are having issues polling have another commonality between them? (ie All busted interfaces on one device; All interfaces that act up connect to maybe 1 or 2 switches; All interfaces that are acting up are connected to a specific model device (like all Cisco ISR 4300 series devices, etc.; All busted interfaces use a couple VLANs or VLANs that terminate at one router)

Do you receive any odd messages on your SolarWinds Webpage saying “SolarWinds Database is Unreachable”?

Are there any weird connectivity issues to the web page or any of your SolarWinds servers from your Enterprise PC?

Are you trying to use more interfaces than your licensing supports?

Also, you mentioned checking CPUs of devices. Did you check the Orion Server and SQL Servers RAM and CPU as well?

Are the SolarWinds servers wired with 1 Gb dedicated connections?

Are the servers virtual or physical? We recently ran into an issue with one site that had virtual servers. We had random web access issues and random polling issues. We had to change virtual resource allocation because one of the SolarWinds server wasn't getting enough juice from the cluster. It took some rearranging to get the needed resources, but issues went away when we got the resources.

Again, there are a couple things that could be your issue. It you can find common denominators, it might help you locate the issue while troubleshooting.
