Firewalls CheckPoint can be monitored by NPM or not?

Hi guys,

A few days ago I received a requerement from my customer to monitor firewalls CheckPoint, I've been investigating if it's possible with SolarWinds NPM, basically my customer ask for monitor interfaces, CPU, Memory, Failover status, and configurations where NCM can be a good option, my finding until now is that it's not clear if NPM can monitor CheckPoints, I know there is an option with mibs and OID's in Universal Device Poller, import Mibs but I'm not shure if it works or not, according another discussion here on Thwack, nobody has tested NPM can get that monitoring parameters, Could someone know if NPM can monitoring Firewalls CheckPoint? my concern is assume that NPM can do it and then it doesnt work !..

Hi, I've done a little checkpoint monitoring in solarwinds, it's doable for sure. Anything specific you're looking for?

If I recall correctly

 NPM ootb - Base metrics
 NPM + custom pollers -> Some extra metrics related to connection counts
 NCM backups etc
 SAM API poller for custom stuff

+ Events/Syslogs/Traps stuff in NPM/LA/SEM/etc

I dont recall if there's an enhanced NPM ootb template, could probably look it up if need be but there isnt a checkpoint in my primary environment at the mo.

In general it's better to think like "How much effort it is to set up monitoring for X in solarwinds?" rather than "Can X be monitored in solarwinds?"
