Hello. Apologies but I am a Storage guy not a Solarwinds guy. To be clear our Monitoring team does run Solarwinds/Orion but we declined to install the Storage Resource Manager (?) SRM package. My team has several Netapp Ontap Storage clusters that are monitored by a Netapp supplied application that can send emails and/or SNMP Traps when conditions such as volume capacity exceeds 80%, etc.
We have been informed by our Monitoring team that the test SNMP traps that we sent from Netapp's OnCommand Unified Manager to their Orion/SW system were received, but refused, as Orion/SW could not do an SNMP query on the sending system. The sending system/application OCUM, is a Netapp supplied OVA that runs on a VM and we simply do not have any access to the underlying OS at all. We only login to the OCUM application and set up a Netapp storage volume for monitoring. Even if the Netapp VM answered the SNMP query all that would return would be info on the VM itself, not the Netapp Storage array that has the actual storage volume on it.
Is anyone using Netapp's OCUM (or the new version Active IQ Unified Manager) to send SNMP traps to SW/Orion? If so how did you get past this issue? Thanks for your time.
