CPU Alert

Hello I have a few questions over how the CPU load alert works in SW.

1. Is the alert based on the CPU load at the time of the poll or average performance counter stats the poller collected over the 10 min period?

2. We would rather have the alert based on an average CPU usage over x number of mins, however when you browse all the Fields for anything CPU related you can only find CPU load. Is there an option for avg CPU usage?

3.If not, how does CPU load work? Does it check the avg load of all CPU's on the node and give that number back as the Load percentage?

Currently the Server Down Alert is set up like this:

Trigger alert

when Node Status = Down

and Node Type = Server

Condition must exist for more than 10 minutes.

In general terms, an alert can be described as selecting a value from a table, such as where the node Status is Down. In this example, it is very simplistic as the node will have a single status at any given moment in time. This is the same for CPU load alerts There is a single value for CPULoad in Orion.Nodes, however, how the value is calculated will depend on the type of device.

Although there is no option to say "Alert me when the Average CPU load in the last 10 minutes > 80%" by using the "alert condition must exist for" we can say "Alert me when the CPU load is > 80% for more than 10 minutes"
