orion probleme database

Hello solarwinds community,

we use orion for our company, and we noticed a big problem of space consumption of the orion database lately.

on the log table, we have this line : [dbo].[OrionLog_LogEntryFieldValue] of the size of more than 140.000.000KB so is more than 140 GB, which is huge.

we do not know what this table represents?
and what is the use?
how can we optimize it?

@brahimovic, pretty sure that table is the received Log Entires such as syslog and traps. If so, that table size would be directly correlated with the volume of syslog and traps being sent to SolarWinds. you could reduce the size by reducing what is sent or reducing the retention.

By lowering the retention period, you should be able to shrink the tables when the database maintenance runs (usually overnight).
