Different sets of custom properties for different sets of nodes (same type of nodes)?

Company 1 has been integrated with company 2, and both use Solarwinds.
Company 1's nodes has been added to Solarwinds of company 2 to only have one Solarwinds environment.
Company 1 brings a couple of mandatory custom properties that company 2 does not needor want.
Is there a way to have different sets of custom properties for different sets of nodes?
I think you can hide custom properties from a user via Account Limitation Builder, but I don't think that is the way to do it.

How would you go about solving this problem?
Our nodes are network devices, and we use NPM and NCM.

@Martin_A, unfortunately, once you combine the two SolarWinds into 1 instance that will not be available. The custom properties do not allow for if/then the way that you are describing. The only way to accomplish that is to keep them separate and consolidate them into a single pane of glass by using Enterprise Operations Console (EOC), but may not necessarily be desired because it comes with an additional cost and I'm assuming that part of the reason for combining is to cut back on cost.
