Grouping: how to create a report based using Group as a Field?

Hi Folks,

I  have done the nested grouping for my Solarwinds environment . I want to include the nested groups then  including its corresponding nodes and interfaces as well in my report.

For eg : The grouping done is like this  region->country->state->city->nodes

I want to create a report on region or country in the way that details of city nodes along with its interfaces are included in the report.

Have anyone done this before or can help me this stuff if it is possible to create one.

First the easy part, when you get the data from Orion into the table, use "Data Aggregation" to group the rows correctly.

Since you want interfaces, I would use that as the source of the data and you should be able to see enough Node details as well though the GUI interface. Personally, I tend to skip the report builder GUI to get the table data, and I write SWQL to get what I want. 

I don't know how you made your groups, but I hope that you set region->country->state->city as a custom property on each node, and you determine group membership using the properties. Writing a query that figures out a label by group membership can be done, but its not as simple. 

If you have the custom properties, getting that table should not be too hard. If not, I recommend setting that up sooner rather than later. Custom Properties are used all over Orion and SWQL is very powerful to get you what you want.
