OSPF Traffic flow direction change Notification AND MAP

Hello community.

I'm very new to SW and Networking in general, so I would like to tap the collective wisdom of the SW community...

Our network is built like a ring, consisting of 6 physical locations with 2 ISPs coming in at 2 different physical locations.

We consider the ISP that comes into our main data center our "Main" Connection and the one at Colo our "Backup"...

For simplicity's sake - when Main connection is active, data flows "clockwise" (along our RING map), but if it fails or there is heavy traffic, OSPF redirects traffic flow in the other direction, creating data redundancy....

I have created Orion Maps of our network that show all the Edge Devices and its very good at showing what is up and whats down...

However, I would like to, also, show which way the data "flows" along the Ring because our Main connection is faster.. and I would just like to know if something has failed... is that possible?

What are my options here?

Interesting idea. I'm a bit newer to the maps myself - just finished making several to cover larger and some smaller sites. Will keep an eye on this to see if there's a solution

@rkogan, so what I might suggest in this instance would be NetPath. It would be able to show you the hops your traffic is taking which should indicate flow. I would set up two different ones, one for clockwise and one for counter-clockwise, understanding that one will always show significantly less data unless the traffic is traversing. For each flow method, I would pick the farthest node as its destination, depending on which way the traffic is going one should show significantly fewer hops than the other one, but as traffic flow changes these NetPaths would then flip. Unfortunately, I don't think would be able to display the data on a typical Orion Map, BUT it does graphically represent the traffic flow and could be displayed on a Summary page using an iframe within a Custom HTML widget. Additionally, if you wanted to you could also alert on when that traffic flow changes as well.

Ah, that's a good idea. For one of the NOC views that I have setup I'm pulling in some reports with HTML that way - will look into that.
