All Configured Alerts Inventory Report Alert Severity

Hi All,

After some help / guidance regarding the Severity of alerts - when i run a report for "All Configured Alerts Inventory" It displays the severity of each alert (e.g 1 or 2) but when physically going into the alerts most of them are set to warning, my question is where is the report retrieving the data from to display the Severity - basically the alerts do not match up with the severity stated on the report i run.

@jasonf1971, basically the system is translating those integer values to string values when processing to show on the website. You can accomplish the same mechanism by using CASE statements in queries. Take a look at this query, you should be able to take the query and replace your datasource with it for the report and display the severity as string values.

@jasonf1971, using the query as a starting point and looking at that reports datasource you can develop the query to correctly "CASE" the severity to a string value. Try and replace the reports datasource with the below query. It has the appropriate CASE statements that convert the Severity to a string value.

, Description
, ObjectType
, Enabled
, Frequency
, CASE Severity
		WHEN 0 THEN 'Informational'
        WHEN 1 THEN 'Warning'
		WHEN 2 THEN 'Critical'
        WHEN 3 THEN 'Serious'
        WHEN 4 THEN 'Notice'
        ELSE CONCAT('Unknown Severity: ', Severity)
, NotifyEnabled
, ToLocal(LastEdit) as LastEdit
, CreatedBy

In what context? Are you building an alert because the Alert field picker should have a "Severity" as one you can grab.

im not building an alert - the report i am using is picking up the severity of each alert but the alerts themselves have a totally different severity
