Hardware Requirements for Multi Module Deployment

Hello,

I dont suppose anyone has any advice/recommendations on Hardware specs for an on premise multi-module deployment.

We will be running NTA-SLX, NCM-DL500, NPM-SLX & VNQM-SLAX

I have read through the product specs but just wondered what other people were deploying on and if they had any advice?!?!

Solarwinds have a page, here: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/orionplatform/content/core-multi-module-system-guidelines.htm that covers off hardware recommendations. On the above page is a link to a 'How do I calculate' section which is just down the bottom, but the key takeaway is that they say:

Typically, you need a single quad-core processor and 8 GB of RAM. For each additional module on the same system, add one CPU core and 2 GB of RAM.

On that basis, as you have 4 modules, you should a 4 Core processor with 14Gb of RAM.

Your DB server will be another beast altogether

Our deployment is much the same as yours, except that our NCM is also an SLX and we haven't yet started to use the VNQM module but we sized for it.

So our primary box runs on Server 2016, with
64Gb RAM and
2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5122 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3592 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Core OS Drive is 140Gb with a data / logs / etc drive of another 140Gb.

Our APE's are slightly smaller and some are VM's, but our core HA platform is all physical hardware.

I would like to clarify this close but it's off. You start with a quad-core CPU which would give you a starting place of 4 CPU cores, then for each additional module, you typically would add on an additional core. which would take you to 8 CPU cores. One thing SolarWinds does to make it easier for you is on that same page there is a table that shows CPU/Memory specs based on module count.
