Alerting - what does notify enabled mean

Hi All,

I have been asked to do an audit on all enabled alerts and the report created contains a column called Notify enabled True or False what does this mean?

Have checked a number alerts that either contain true or false and i cannot see what the difference is

any help would be appreciated - thanks all

NotifyEnabled indicates whether swis notifications are enabled or not for the alert definition. The default value is enabled. This setting is used for alert integrations. The old name for this setting was: "Enable sending alert data to subscribers"

This was originally introduced for better integration with Alert Central and other external ticketing systems. Here is an extract from the original discussion.

Alert Central needs to track when new Orion alerts get triggered and updated.   Even though Alert Central supports receiving alerts through email, Orion's alert email trigger actions require the user to remember to configure each single alert and to format the email in a specific way so that Alert Central can parse the email correctly.

There have also been requests in the past from Orion customers for an api to help them integrate with their ticketing system.

To support these use cases we will be leveraging Orion's SWIS to publish events related to Alerts when they get triggered, reset, acknowledged, or have any of their properties modified.   This will allow anyone to listen for alert notifications and makes it easy to process the alert properties and their values.
