Custom Available Space Change Alert

Hi all,

I've been requested to create an alert when available free space on a specific drive has changed by 50 GB (up or down) within an 8 hour period.

I've looked through the built in fields/events and did not find a solution, however I believe this can be accomplished using SQL or SWQL but my database knowledge/scripting is limited. Does any happen to have this set up in their environment already and would like to share the solution?

For clarity let me ask a few questions:

Are you looking for a target is one (or a small group) of volumes.
Are you are looking for a "rolling" 8 hour delta of 50GB? If so, what specificity do you want here?
- Minute-by-minute? (00:00 - 07:59, 00:01 - 08:00, etc.)
- Hour-by-hour? (00:00 - 07:59, 01:00 - 08:59, etc.)
Is the 50GB mark "fixed" or can it move up/down?
When do you want to be alerted? (After the 8 hours, at the 4 hour mark, etc.

Target is one volume. I plan on targeting it in the scope.
Not rolling, just need to check at a random point in that 8 hours. I plan on using the "evaluation frequency" option for this.
50 GB or more
Just at some point in that 8 hour period. Assuming the "evaluation frequency" option will take care of this.

OK, in summary:

Alert will check for trigger every 8 hours.
We take the value of disk space used from 8 hours ago and compare it to now.
If the delta is >50GB or <-50GB (probably do this with absolute values), then the alert gets triggered.

Is that correct?
