How to apply the SAM Template for AWS Relational Database Service?

Could someone give some insight on how to apply the SAM Template for AWS Relational Database Service? Mainly, what do I assign the template to? Do I apply it to a poller where the script will be executed to fetch the data? Or do I create an external node for the RDS instance? I'm fairly new with the cloud monitoring templates.

I don't know for sure for this exact template but I would create an external node representing that AWS instance. Then assign the template there. The template will run on the polling engine the external node is assigned to so make sure it works from there.
