Advanced Alerting / Correlation

I am looking for something very close to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmP15shKMr8&ab_channel=solarwindsinc

What I can't seem to find is how to do this for the parent node.

This talks about selecting a node, but how do I do this dynamically? Surely this has to be one of the most common requests, as we wouldn't want 10 "port" down alerts if the actual device itself has gone down, but I just can't seem to find anything for this specifically.

I want to trigger an alert if an interface status is not equal to Up...but ONLY if the interface's parent node is Up.

Can we put dynamic values/variables to refer to this in the name field, rather than selecting a node? I assume it isn't required for me to create an alert like this for every device just so that I can refer to each node by name?

@pezza72, your trigger condition would read like this.

Alert Object = Interface

Status(Node) = up

AND

Status != Up

I'm shocked how easy that was. I just assumed this was more complex and needed some sort of advanced configuration, as every time I have asked our network team about this I was told they couldn't do it, and almost had me re-inventing the wheel by developing a script in our automation before raising incidents!

I knew there must have been a way to silence the noise at source :-)
