Append Output to Text

I am looking to create a rule that when it is fired it appends its output to a file that is on a network share.

I can see where the rule is firing and where it is trying to write the information into the file. 

When I go out to the network share I am not seeing anything added to the file.
Are we able to append output to a network share?
Is there a specific file type that I should be using to make this work?

do you have auditing enabled on the file server for SMB success and failure make and check the event viewer of the file server to make sure it is not an authentication issue?  is the share everyone accesses as SolarWinds is Linux based so Kerberos does not work all too well for a file share.
