Cannot start Solar Wind's Agent on 4 Azure servers. Error: 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Hello everyone,

Has anyone ever had an issue with the SolarWinds.Agent.Service.exe failing to start on servers.

the error i get is "Error: 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I have 4 affected servers in a DMZ so I think its firewall related.  Besides the standard ports (22,135,445,17778,17790) is there any others i need to open?

Issue started after patching and a server reboot.

Just for reference the fix for this was:

On the agent server:

1. Open services.msc > Find Agent service
2. Right-click to select Properties > Select Log On tab Elevate to Local Administrator credentials
3. Open regedit > Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
4. Right-click in the right pane to select New DWORD Value
5. Name new DWORD Value ServicesPipeTimeout > Right-click new DWORD Value to select Modify
6. Select Decimal and enter 180000
7. Select Ok to save changes
8. Reboot the agent server
9. Try to start agent service again.
