migrating single npm instance to several instances tied together with eoc

Hi there! I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find anything after searching the site for some reason.

Here's the scenario:

-site A has a running npm instance that monitors, sites A, B, C, D, E, F and G

-we purchased 2 more npm licenses and 1 eoc license.

-we want to have npm running on at sites A, B and C, with A monitoring A, D, E, F, G then have sites B and C monitor their respective sites.

-the EOC instance will be at site A tying everyone together.

How do I migrate the data from site A's database to sites B and C, preserving its integrity obviously? Also any other pointers/best practices on making this happen would be super duper awesome b/c this is my first implementation of EOC. Thanks in advanced and hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!!!

Your scenario is not a strict migration, as you've indicated, so we don't have any documentation to walk you through the process, but the following steps should help.

Make two copies/backups (e.g. db_B and db_C) of the SW database for your site A installation. For more information about creating database backups, see the SolarWinds Technical Reference, "Moving Your Orion NPM Database".
Complete the installation of your Site B and Site C installations, using databases db_B and db_C, as indicated in the SolarWinds Orion NPM Administrator Guide.
Note: You will want to delete duplicate objects.
Configure your EOC installation on Site A, as indicated in the SolarWinds Orion EOC Administrator Guide.

Thanks a bunch pacetti!!! I figured it would go along the lines you pointed out but wanted to make sure b/c this would be my first time attempting something like this with SW. I will update with my progress.

I am probably asking a really dumb question here but I not a SQL admin by any means so here goes....Do you have to stop Orion Services to get a valid DB backup? Also as a best practice, what features in sql 2k8 server standard r2 need to be installed with core SQL? Thanks again for all your help!!!
