The organization I work for has become interested in the idea that we could use scheduled network scans through SolarWinds to identify and keep an inventory of our fleet of desktop PCs. I'm a bit newer to SolarWinds, everything I have worked with so far is some infrastructure device that we for example, need to alert on and care about in realtime.
Is there a way to import discovered nodes in specific network scan as "PC" objects that we do not alert on but keep track of in SolarWinds? I'm assuming the next action item asked for will be a pseudo tracking and identification of new devices added that we were not aware of (very common) - either by our staff or items plugged into the network by vendors that we are unaware of.
Is this doable? Or a reasonable ask for Solar winds? The end-goal / expectation is an additional 8,000 windows/AD workstation devices and possibly 1,000-2,000 non windows based networked devices. I know I haven't mentioned our hardware, I'm assuming we will need some upgrades along the way.
