Extreme Switch Hardware Health Not Working

Good Morning,

Sorry a bit of a Solarwinds Newbie / Amateur here.

I have several Extreme Switches (mostly X440G2)

And when I go to List Resources, it has Hardware Health as an option at the top. So I set it to poll, however, I never get any of the hardware health information.

The node indicates:

Node is Up.
Overall Hardware Status (Node) 'Overall Hardware Status' has state: Unknown.

It recognizes its an Extreme Switch, gets the serial and model numbers, but never provides information like Power Supply Health, Fan Health, etc.

I figured since it was a similar option to how I get hardware health from cisco switches, and its on the list of supported switches, that this information would just populate, but its not.

I've read a lot about OID and MiBs, and i get the gist, I'm just nowhere near that level of confidence or ability in Solarwinds.

Sorry not sure why but Extreme “Hardware health” is not supported.You can make a feature request if there’s any …
But the best way is asking Extreme to reach Solarwinds and make that happen special with the new universal hardware

Hi there,

SolarWinds lists the OIDs that are used for supported machines here: https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Hardware-health-OIDS?language=en_US

I don't see Extreme on this list, so there's no indication that out-of-the-box this will be supported. The fact that Hardware Health shows in the 'List Resources' section is a little strange though.

One thing you can check is the Hardware Health Sensor page, and make sure that the sensors are properly enabled: https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/orionplatform/content/core-enabling-and-disabling-or-adjusting-hardware-health-monitors-for-individual-nodes-sw3596.htm

If you know the OIDs that Extreme uses to report its Hardware Health in SNMP, you can also create custom pollers to pull that information - although they won't fill in the Hardware Health information directly.
