How to change the SQL service account

My security team wants us to use a new user account for solar winds. I'm not certain where all it's used.

But I can see that if I go into Database Manager I can see if there - svc-orionsql. How can I change that

to use another service account? And how can I find every place within Solar Winds that might be

making use of that same account? Thank you.

To change the account used by SolarWinds to access the database, you need to run the Configuration Wizard application on the SolarWinds server. In the Database settings section, you can choose the account used (in this case, your new service account). Further along in the Config Wizard, it will ask you for the SolarWindsOrionLog credentials and you can make the same change.

If you have any additional polling engines, additional web servers, or high availability servers, then you need to run the Config Wizard on each server.

When I went into the Configuration Wizard - I could not spot this service account. If I log onto the Solar Winds SQL server it is there as Logon for MSSQLSERVER. (It's also used for NTA but less critical.) Any thought on where I could change that?

In the end - all I had to do was go to the Orion SQL server and right click properties for the MSSQLSERVER process. There I changed the UID/PW for that service. Noting for future bread crumb trail!

@[Deleted User] the correct method is provided by @shuth to change the SQL username/password SW uses to make a connection.

When you run the solarwinds configuration wizard its the 2nd page that is displayed to you, you need to run though this again and updated the sql username and password for NPM/NTA & Log Manager

That sounds like the account being used to run the SQL service, not the account that SolarWinds is using to access the database (which is configured in the Config Wizard).

svc-orionsql is only the service account that is being used to run the MSSQL services, your DB account is the one that is being used in the Connection String. This one will be a local Database user, if you want to replace it, you will need to create a new SQL account and copy all the permissions of the existing account.
