How can I Verify an Alert Action Was Triggerd?

It was reported that an alert posted in the Alert Console did not trigger an email as designed. This is an alert definition that has worked in the past. I need a way to determine if the email was missed or if there was an error and the email trigger errored. Is there a log I can check? An Event?

If the alert is still active or if you have the alert URL/ID, you can view the alert history on the alert details page. It will tell you whether the email was successful or there was an error.

Otherwise you can go through the ActionsExecutionAlert.log file in C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion. I think this may only show errors - I can't remember 100%.

Potentially also look in the [AlertHistory] table in the database. The timestamp in this table is UTC.

Part of the trigger, has the option to write to the event log been selected as well as the email?

Do you mean create a second trigger to write to the event log? Or can the email trigger also write to the event log that the action completed.

Yeah should be a second trigger if not would add it? Also have you tried simulating the alert to see if it still fires correctly.

If has variables, the fields they are pulling from are they correct and not been changed accidently?
