if a node is muted does it still backup?

We're having some core problems that are affecting management IP's not production. I want to stop NCM from trying to backup devices it can't reach. I've muted alerts but do I have to unmanage the nodes to stop NCM from trying to run backups on the nodes?

See this KB about removing nodes from NCM this will ONLY remove it from NCM not NPM

I have found that unmanage and mute only apply to the NPM side of the world.
If want to stop a device from being backed up, I can remove it from NCM (unmanage in NCM)
There is a bit of a "got ya". If a node is not in NCM you will be unable to run scripts to the node.

I have found the easy way to not back up a node is to use a custom property
ByPass Backup (yes/no)

I then add this to the filter for the backup job

ByPass Backup must equal ‘no’

Instead of using a CP, you could add the node (device) status to the mix, either numerical or textual.

fwiw I had a node that was not backing up, noticed it was unmanaged. When I set the node back to managed it started backing up again. So who knows?
