Solarwinds.Orion.LogMgmt.SyslogService Memory 100% Utilization 32GB memory VM

Hi Team ,

We have an issue with Solarwinds , We are unable to launch the application getting some error.

Upon checking we found Physical memory of the server is reaching 100% .Even after we restart the server withing 1hr the physical memory is constantly increasing and again it will reach 100% .

We observed below 2 services are utilizing more memory .Can you please advice if there is any permanent fix or workaround .

So this sounds like something you should open a ticket with Support for: Customer Portal Login | SolarWinds
Thwack is a community forum, and we can help with a lot, but this sounds broken. Definitely don't wait for other users to figure this out, get SolarWinds support on it.

Now if I saw this on my system, the first thing I would do is verify back ups, restart everything, validate the memory issues still continue, validate I am running the most current version (if not update Orion) then as a last attempt, try to re-run the configuration wizard. At that point if the issues persisted I would open the ticket with support.

Do you think we have to increase the memory ?

Or should we ask Server owner to open a case with vendor to check possible memory leak issue on the server ?

We have same problem.Syslog using 40gb memory restart is not work. Its increase again.

I agree with @jm_sysadmin a support ticket is the best course of action. If you have done so could you share the case number with me? I do see similar issues reported which were fixed in 2020.2.5, what version are you using?

This is not normal. You should immediately raise support ticket and upload diagnostics.

We have the Trap process running very High. When i looked at the OLM logs, I found tons of errors for bad packet errors for IPs that didn't exist in SolarWinds. I ran Wireshark and found that there were Azure devices that were sending snmpv2c traps to our pollers while our devices are using snmpv3. This was just yesterday, so we are having the admins of those devices working on changing the configuration to use snmpv3 for traps. I don't know if this will help the Trap service issue, but it is an Error that should be fixed.

We increased the memory from 32GB to 46GB ...now the Solarwinds is stable ...

Interesting. I have the same issue and gave it 128GB RAM and it ate the lot! I do have 20 Firewalls and 10 Firepower ASA's sending syslog to it. So figured I was overloading it.
