Merge two Orion Server into by using Discovery Node

Hello guys, 

We have two separate instances of Orion setup (one for Servers, one for Network devices) and want to merge into one server. I saw a old discussion https://thwack.solarwinds.com/product-forums/network-performance-monitor-npm/f/forum/65514/combining-two-separate-orion-instances/31712#31712 that state best practice is using Discovery Node and re-import nodes into one Server.

Question 1: That mean all my data and configuration will be lost and I need to configure Alerts, Actions, Nodes Threshold again right ?

Question 2: Is there any other way to merge two Orion Server except that best practice ?

Hi

1. Yes, almost. Some things can be exported/imported like alerts and reports. But statistics, configuration and thresholds will be lost

2. Not that I can think of. 

I would take out all the nodes IP's from one Orion and do a rediscovery on them on the other Orion server.
