Unable to see the configs after network discovery.

I have added some nodes using the network discovery. I can see the nodes status i.e It is showing up , But unable to see any configs for that node.

Would be glad if someone can help me with this issue as we are in dire need to start backing up our sites .

So to discover the nodes you've used NPM - yes?

So for the configs you now need to configure NCM (if you have it) to do the backups, etc The basic approach is below:

1. Go to the node in question (you can do this in bulk as well but let's do one first off) and click 'edit properties'
   
   
2. Scroll down to the section headed 'CLI Polling Settings' and just below that is a selection box, with 3 options. Set yours to YES
   
   
   
3. This opens up a new section called NCM Properties - which you will need to detail out.
   
   
4. First bit is the connection profile - this is what user ID and password you would use to connect - you can configure up 'connection profiles' that are shared across multiple devices (especially if you use TACACS or similar).
   
   Essentially you enter how you logon and what protocol you would use (SSH, Telnet, TFTP etc) here.
   
   At this point I would advise clicking on the TEST button that you see - if it returns green then all good move on. If not, then you may need to alter the 'device template' but after the test completes you'll see a new clickable option - 'Show credential login details' e.g.
   
   
   For a failure, this can sometimes be very useful in tracking down the why. But if you know the credentials work (you can manually log on via SSH with them for example) then it is likely the 'device template' at issue
   
   
5. So, scroll down to the 'device template' and change from 'Auto Determine' to one that most closely matches your device. If there isn't one, then you will need to either search Thwack or develop one for yourself.
   
   
6. Anyway, once your test button returns a green (and BTW, it may return a green but still fail to backup as you don't have the right template) click on that submit button and then go to the new pop out tab that appears on the node page called 'Configs' ** scroll down to the download config section and download one.

** alternatively navigate via your menu system to: Configuration Management, find your device and run a backup from there.

N.B. Once all the above is working, you will also need to add a 'Job' to ensure regular backups are done.
