After 2019.2 HF3 to 2020.2.6 upgrade, with migration from Syslog/Trap Viewer to Orion Log Viewer, see new "SolarWindsOrionLog" database

Question

Hello Experts,

as per title, after 2019.2 HF3 to 2020.2.6 upgrade, with migration from Syslog/Trap Viewer to Orion Log Viewer, see new "SolarWindsOrionLog",  "SolarWindsOrionLog_1", "SolarWindsOrionLog_2" databases in Database Manager.

I am unable to find documentation announcing and explaining these - is there a such and if so, a hyperlink, please?

Also, my organisation's DBA is asking if "these databases need to be backed up and replicated (redundancy)?" - is there a recommendation from Solarwinds?

Would running Configuration Wizard again likely to create a new database (eg. "SolarWindsOrionLog_3") which then needs to be backed-up?

@alexferen It looks like during the upgrade process(configuration wizard) has created a backup database file. and pointed to the new DB

You can check to which database the OLV pointing to by running the configuration wizard and check the DB configurations( Do not run the config wizard completely)

Also note that you can't access the legacy traps/syslogs with the OLV.

If you require to access the legacy traps then you can do that by login into the SW server and run the trap viewer.

And you only have to backup the correct OLV DB pointed in the Config wizard. But having a complete one time backup of the old DBs will give you some details if you require them in future.
