Really new to Orion

Question

This has probably already been asked and answered, very new to Orion.   When adding a node and it's site information, then adding another node with the same name, address, city, etc.  Is there a way to create the site so the common information only has to be entered once?

Welcome to the growing pains that are 'getting in to Orion'. I've been using it for nigh on 3yrs now and still consider myself very much a newbie to it.

But as @m_roberts says, there is no automated way [that I know of[] to do what you need. Instead you import your nodes and assigned your predetermined 'Custom Properties' - in your example, just one would suffice, e.g. ADDRESS, unless you have a need to separate out post codes (zip?) from the address? etc. We use: CLIENT and CLIENT_SITE as two for location management, along with PHYSICAL LOCATION (aka Dataroom Rack or similar).

Then just follow Mark's advice to populate them in bulk.

Not really. Each monitored object such as a Node in this case, has values you can populate called Custom Properties, which allow you to store additional information for each of those nodes. These can be used as purely information enrichment for display in Orion and or to use as filters in various functions such as Alerts, Reports, UAC, Web display.

My preferred method, is to import all of the nodes in to Orion, create the correct Custom Property structure and then using one of the following methods bulk populate:

* Import a spreadsheet * Settings > All Settings > Manage Custom Properties > Import

* Using the bulk method in Orion UI* Settings > All Settings > Manage Custom Properties > (Select Custom Properties) > View/Edit Values
