We used to monitor a bunch of Linux boxes using the SW Agent but we yanked all of these out last time there was a major update to the SW Agent. I had read somewhere that the SW Agent is only really used if you are monitoring applications on a Linux node and if you are looking for basic info can monitor via SNMPv3.
Is this the best article that explains how to set this up?

I am assuming we setup SNMPv3 in SW and when we spin up the Linux nodes just make sure it has SNMPv3 enabled with the connection string.
Anything I am missing here or any helpful hints would be great.
