How do I remove orphaned components in SAM?

I discovered several hundred orphaned components in SAM after doing a cleanup of or templates and app monitors. The components are not bound to any applications or templates. They are not visible in the UI but I still find them in reports and manual queries.

Has anyone seen this? Resolution in cleaning these up is appreciated/
