Alert Configuration Question for Two Custom SAM Apps

Greetings -

I configured two SAM apps to monitor Sterling Integrator services on two nodes. I configured the alerts to fire off it any of the applications go down but my problem is instead of them going down there was an issue on the nodes that made them go into Unknown mode and then other.

The reason for two SAM apps is one of the nodes does not run one of the services so I had to create two. I set the alerts to go off it they go down or unknown.

I ran a simulation and it worked but this is the first time I am using OR instead of AND. Thanks -DaveD. Thanks!!

I have two custom SAM monitors that I am trying to alert on and instead of making two separate alerts I was wondering if I could use OR so I could alert on both of them instead of two separate alerts. The nodes are 99% the same but one has an additional service on it so I had to create two SAM monitors instead of one. Just curious if I use OR so I could put both of them in the same alert. If there is a better way to do this I am all ears. Thanks!!!!

It sounds like you could build the SAM Template with both service components added, then delete the unnecessary component from only the affected instance (the node that does have that service). The alert could be either application scope - single application or a component alert and you can use an "or" statement in the scope.

Actually a component based alert could handle both sam applications. Just make sure the scope is specific to each component. Either based on component name or even component ID. And use an OR statement in the scope.
