clarification for the design and configuration of HA, pool, DNS and SQL clustering

I have the following implementation Scenario and I need help.

My customer has Main datacenter and Disaster recovery and  we will by using virtual  hostname for  the HA (Multi-subnet)

 

My license includes High availability licenses so  I will install main Orion server  on DC along  with 10 additional polling engines and  the Backup Orion server will  be installed on the DR with 10 backup additional polling engines.

I have some points to clarify.

• Customer DNS is Infoblox, I need help with the steps of creating virtual hostname  on infoblox and any other configuration needed to  make the virtual hostname works..
• For DB cluster can I have Orion DB – Netflow DB and Log analyzer DB in one cluster with separate databases for each.
• For the Orion and APE should I create one pool and join Orion (main-backup), APE (main-backup) to the same pool or I have to create pool for each 2 servers, how this  can  be done

Hi - I can't answer all of your questions, as I wasn't involved in our actual setup but here is what we have.

- Main poller in a failover pair/group
- each additional poller in its own failover pair/group

Each failover device is in a.n.other DC.

The DB is also a failover pair and that is managed by our DBA's but we also utilise a Cluster listener which is virtual. I can't answer specifics as I say this is all managed by our DBA team.

We have sperate DB's for Orion, and Netflow but don't use LA - however I don't see that making any difference.

All that said: as it sounds like you are right at the start of your setup journey I'd reach out to your account manager, whom will likely put you in touch with a tech bod to get you up and running via their 'onboarding process'.
