Cisco SD-WAN alerting

I want to create an alert for BFD sessions that can detect when one of our control connection has gone down. We use EPLAN fiber as our primary circuit and coax business & LTE as backup. The status and protocol of the interface of the device is up even when the BFD session is down so we do not get any alerts from SW. Has anyone had any luck creating these alerts in an SD-WAN environment?

Hi Jsmith93. I'm equally facing similar challenge. Have you been able to solve this? If so, do you mind sharing what was done?

Yes but I had to turn them on in vManage and not SolarWinds. In vManage, navigate to Monitor > Alarms > Alarm Notifications you will see a list of alarms. Find the BFD_TLOC_DOWN alert and check the Email box. You'll also want to go into Administration > Alarm Notifications and set up your email server if you haven't already.

Oh. This is nice. Please, what is to be used as from address and reply to address? Confirm if you also checked SMTP authentication?

Confirm if there is a way I can also fetch the details on SolarWinds as we use it mainly to monitor.

It will depend on your environment and what email security controls you have in place. You can use any from address as long as it is in your domain i.e vmanagealerts@yourdomain.com. Reply to address is where you want the alerts to be sent. I do not have SMTP authentication checked. You can turn on interface and tunnel alerts in SolarWinds but I don't think SolarWinds has the capability of monitoring SD-WAN BFD connections. I could be wrong though. The vManage alerting works for us.
