Possible or recommended upgrade Orion 2018 to 2020.5 offline

Looking to upgrade my Orion 2018.2h6 to the latest 2020 version.

My VM admin said I could do a test run using isolated image if I wanted to.

Can the upgraded from 2018 to 2020 be downloaded for updating in an isolated environment? Or is the recommendation to do it "online" so upgrade can pull everything and possibly more directly from internet?

Then we also have the SQL side to deal with, guessing unless my admin can provide that also, using vm isolation for upgrade will fail due to no SQL, yes?

There you will find both online and offline installers depending on your needs.  Before starting the process it may be beneficial to use the product upgrade advisor to provide your environment details and determine your upgrade path

If you 'copy' the existing Orion VM to an isolated environment that does not have access to its configured SQL instance, it will require you to provide details of a new. This could be a SQL express instance with a new empty DB for the purposes of your testing.  Ideally, however, I would recommend also migrating the existing DB to a separate SQL instance and configuring your migrated Orion server to use this DB.
