Common Cisco Router Alerts

What common Alerts would be most useful for monitoring a Cisco router with IPSEC VPN Tunnels?

We have the following out-of-the-box alerts setup:

• Alert when a node goes down
• Alert when a node reboots
• Alert when an interface goes down
• High CPU
• High packet loss

Ideally, want to be alerted when:

• there is a power issue
• router reboots
• interface goes down
• IPSEC VPN Tunnel goes down
• High packet loss - over internal, external and tunnel interfaces
• Phase 1 or Phase 2 of a VPN Tunnel goes down
• traffic over a VPN Tunnel is interrupted, but the VPN Tunnel interfaces are still "up"

any suggestions would be appreciated.

also, is there any on demand training available for setting up alerts on Cisco devices specifically?

If SolarWinds is ingesting your Syslogs from the routers then you could monitor this stuff with alert built off the messages.  If you navigate to the Alerts & Activities area there are some pre-made interface down alerts.  I imagine there are some SNMP MIBs that could be monitored for VPN tunnel status, you may have to create custom pollers for those.
