Different Orion Maps for different groups

hi there,

Cant seem to work this out and seem to be going around in circles.

I have various groups and have created a Orion Map for each group, however when I go GROUPS, click on a group > CUSTOMIZE PAGE & attach an Orion Map to it, it shows up on all the other groups pages - is it possible to have a different map for each group without showing multiple maps that belong to other groups down the left hand side of the page? for Example on this screenshot i only want to see 1 map not the 2 that have shown up.

managed to get this working by following this post: thwack.solarwinds.com/.../variable-custom-html-links-on-group-summary-page

basically create a GROUP type custom variable, in the case of the above post its snowrpt then add the Custom Query widget or resource to your tab and paste the query from the above post in modifying the URL and variable of course to how you want it.

@higginsc - This is not possible today with Orion Maps. This is actually not possible when adding any widget to a group details page. For example, you couldn't add a Top XX widget to a Group Details page without it showing up on all other Group Details pages. There has been a workaround in the past with Atlas Maps, but Orion Maps has not added this functionality yet. This is a well known feature request we are tracking and hope to instrument for a future release.

Your options for now would be to utilize the default map that is kept up to date for you from the sub-view labeled Map, or to create a custom Summary View that contains the widgets you are after.

Hi, thanks for the response and clarification. I've voted it up.

To the second part of my mission - Do you know if there's any way to add external URLs to each nodes page in Solarwinds? I'm trying to link to our WIKI for what will be static content with additional info particular to that node.

I've got a new view added as a tab (Confluence Links) in the sidebar:

and I'm able to add User Link widgets to that tab and individualize the heading using the ${Name} variable so its the same as the Node Name

but is it possible to add different URLs? At the moment if I edit the User Link and change the URL on one nodes page it changes all the nodes.

Within the user links resource when places on a node details view it is possible to use any node variables such as thise listed here https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/orionplatform/content/core-node-variables-sw3485.htm . You may also use custom properties in the same format to construct the url you need e.g http://${Country}${City}

Excellent! I've managed to get it working using custom properties as suggested, works a treat too.

However its only working for nodes, not groups..?

I've created a new tab for Groups and added the same User Link widget to the tab but using the ${Name} variable actually displays the variable name:

I'm also falling when trying to use a custom variable in the URL field, I created a GROUP type custom variable:

and assigned it a value similar to the Node type variable:

but when used its not translating to the value:

whereas the node one is working really well - I must be missing something but I'm scratching my head atm...!
