I've been hunting down and resolving issues for Nodes that have been having issues with IIS AppInsight. What I found is some of the Nodes that were showing errors and not providing any information needed a Self Signed certificate and a listener configured manually. Once that was complete I was able to poll via AppInsight for IIS.
I noticed some very quirky behavior with the following resolutions:
- Node is "greyed out" in AppInsight for IIS. Removing and adding the Node back in the template for AppInsight IIS resolved some issues
- Node is "greyed out" in AppInsight for IIS. Start or Re-Start the WMI Service resolved some issues,
- Node cannot be added to AppInsight IIS and Test fails. Create Self Signed certificate and a listener configured manually on the Node resolved some issues.
Sometimes I've also had to remove the Node completely from SAM and add back in and this resolved the issue. These sound like "bugs" to me!? My scenario now is I've created a Certificate and Listener on a particular Node and get the same errors as I did before and says "Performance Counter Not Found"!? Any Ideas? Also I may add we have about 40 servers that have no issues with AppInsight IIS
