Does Solarwinds do much exception testing ?

This upgrade has pretty much been a debacle mainly because if anything is wrong with an install, SW is stuck in install mode. There never seems to be any backout as part of the centralized install, which to this outsider, just seems lazy. This looks to me like a lack of exception testing. This has always seemed prevalent at SW, but in this particular upgrade, it's blatantly apparent.

From pre-staging files to the actual install, this required upgrade has been a PITA. This could be our last install if I have any say in the matter.

I'm mid-rebuild of our SW environment on to new hardware and essentially rebuilding management from the ground up.  When I started I installed 2020.4 and a couple months in, 2020.5 cam e out. Imagine my surprise when the 2020.5 install failed to connect to SQL because it was in Mixed Mode even though 2020.4 worked fine.  I have had to change the DBs to Win Auth only just to enable the 2020.5 install to work.  Then I had to run the upgrade a 2nd time as NONE of the meagre amount of pre-defined alert conditions loaded in to the DB so I ended up with stuff going yellow and red, but nothing in the alert list for a couple of days until I realized what was going on.  There seems to be literally no exception testing and roll back with the installers and no way to tell the Config Tool what bit you want to re-install if you need to run a repair on something - it's all or nothing.
