NPM Database queries

Hi there,

Our Solarwinds install is managing network nodes across our enterprise but we have analytics and other teams needing the data for capacity management and other purposes. The trouble is all they're 'gun' sql people are having a terrible time trying to find the data they want. That relationships between the nodes and their associated counters, including undps, is the crux of it.I understand the schema is not published but I need a way forward with this. It's putting my company off the tool.

Any information anyone might have or tips and tricks on how to help them find the data would be greatly appreciated.

Well I’m not a SQL guy myself so take this with a grain of salt.

You can pull up Report writer and get the SQL code for that report by going to the Report menu item and selecting Show SQL. While I’m sure it’s not a 1to1 drop into SQL manager, that should give them some ideas.

This also works for any report so creating a custom report to yank the data they want and then passing them the SQL of the report from Report Writer will likely put them in the ballpark.

Have you looked at what the SDk can offer, in terms of querying the database (while being abstracted from teh schema)?
