How to sync time difference in Domain Controllers

hi,

the requirement is that we have to monitor time difference in 32 Domain Controllers.

Do we have to compare the time with something.

I believe it is achievable through SAM but not sure which template to use or how to go about it.

If there is any PDT then I dont know how to compare 32 DCs with that and move forward.

There is a SAM template that exists for monitoring this and it may be part of the AppInsights for Active Directory features.

But if you want to actually force a synchronization on them is this alert triggers, then you'd need to execute a script on the target server. It can be done with the "Execute a Program" alert action.

SAM ships with a monitoring template called "Server Clock Drift (PowerShell)" that may cover what you are looking for. It wouldn't compare your DCs directly to each other, but to another specified time server. The nice thing is, the script in the monitor template can be configured to use your PDCe (domain controller with the PDC emulator FSMO role) as that base time server.

The template description says, "The template allows you to check the server clock drift by comparing the target server time with internet time." There are two components in the template: one to use an internet time server, or one to use an NTP server.

If you want something different, I would still lean towards comparing the system time on each DC with the system time of either (A) the PDCe domain controller OR (B) the time server that your PDCe syncs its time from.

thanks for response but is it achievable because there are 7k+ workstations.

Wait...are you trying to monitor time on all 7k+ workstations??
