Best way to monitor Solarwinds RabbitMQ service health

Hi,

We've recently experienced an outage due to RabbitMQ having issues. I realized that there was nothing in the alerts for Solarwinds services health to indicate RabbitMQ issue.

What is the best way to monitor Solarwinds RabbitMQ service for any issues? Who's going to watch the watcher?

I know its sound stupid but you need a second monitoring solution to monitor your SolarWinds production servers.

If you don't have a test environment with a SAM license i suggest you install a free version of either PRTG or Zabbix.

For PRTG there is no out of the box monitor but they have some power shell scripts on the forum.

For Zabbix they have an agent template that pulls all RabbitMQ important parameters : www.zabbix.com/integrations/rabbitmq

I guess it makes sense if you already have a secondary monitoring system in place. Unfortunately, I don't think I want to spin up a separate instance of Zabbix or similar to monitor RabbitMQ on Solarwinds.

I looked at rabbitmq-diagnostics.bat script that provides some useful info and quick health checks. I wonder if anyone has experience leveraging those.
