Network Performance Monitor of a vCenter server

Question

Trying to add a vCenter (vMware 7.0) server to Solarwinds NPM.

manage nodes - Add node

hostname: vCenter_host_name

Polling Method: VMware

Next "VMAN is currently installed but isn't activated. You can add virtual machines for monitoring, but these machines will be limited to Basic polling."

(We do not have a VMAN license)

(basic polling is OK with me)

Add Credentials (vCenter read-only credentials)

Displayed General thresholds

Displayed Network Thresholds.

FINISH

Clicked FINISH and message states "Node was added successfully"

Click OK

The node never shows up.

Thank you.  Added with ICMP only.  Was able to discover the node.  Moving on to some other issues now (status unknown).  Thanks so much.

Don't select the VMware polling method, you want SNMP (Or just ICMP depending on your access)
