I am very confused. I have:
Orion Platform 2018.2 HF6, IPAM 4.7.0, VNQM 4.5.0, NCM 7.8, NPM 12.3, DPAIM 11.1.0, NTA 4.4.0, UDT 3.3.1, SAM 6.7.0, NetPath 1.1.3
on an old 2012r2 server, pollers (2) are also running on 2012r2 servers.
Want to upgrade to the most recent Orion platform but the 100's of tech notes and options are about to make my head explode.
What I would like to do is:
1) build new 2019 server for Orion 2020.2 to run on while letting the old 2012R2 server with 2018.2HF6 continue to function. Might as well take the pain now with new 2019 clean install, than trying to upgrade 2012r2 with Orion 2020.2. Sever 2012r2 support expires in what 2022?
2) cutover from the old 2012r2 server to new 2019, having the 2019 server take the IP of old server.
3) what do I do about my old Orion database? I have it running as an instance on SQL server 2016 that runs other databases. Do I have my 2020.2 Orion install create a new instance of database on sql 2016, then export out the old 20182HF6 DB into the new db that 2020.2 creates? saw something like that in the install/migrate guides, but again seems to change from guide to guide.
I haven't installed Orion or upgraded this product since Orion Core 2012! So to say I am intimated is an understatement!
I know there are 100's of tech notes out there, but just need someone to say I used technote X & Y to do exactly what you are trying to do. or checkout these links to accomplish what you want.
Thanks
