Hi all,
Fairly new to Solarwinds, so forgive me if this has already been addressed. I did try combing the community, but can't seem to piece the correct word string together in my search if this has already been asked.
I have roughly 450 switches spread throughout the US at our edge locations where the ports are a little over half populated (48 port switches) and we don't normally place them in a shut state (we use NAC to control rogue plugins). We do place the ports in an "unplugged" state, but the problem we have is that we have some devices in the edge locations that are powered down every night. There are also times that someone at the location needs to move a port or plug in an extra device temporarily. We don't have a fully staffed NOC that monitors and manages all of our edge location devices. What I'm wanting to achieve is for an event and alert to be fired when a port changes from unplugged to active and NOT when a port goes down on these switches. If that can be applied on a per port basis, that would be ideal, because we do have a VPC on each switch that provides the uplink to the router, so I would still like to monitor those ports normally, event and alert on down state.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!!
