I have all of my servers already setup and am able to patch them via the Patch Manager console, but I have noticed that regardless of the state of the machine the "Not Installed (Approved)" column remains empty. Am I misundertsnding what this column should be for? I would assume that if a machine had 3 patches that were approved but not installed yet a '3' would appear in this column. If that's not the case what coulumn should I be using to see that information?

The columns in the computers view marked with the suffix (Approved) are not populated, by default. They are associated with the option to "Calculate approval summaries.." They represent the counts of status for only the update approved for each computer. From the filter bar, all the way on the right side, select the drop down menu and change it to "Calculate approval summaries..." and those fields will be populated.
