Hi all. I've been getting this receive power sensor warning message on C6807-XL switch for almost 2 to 3 months now. Can you help me identify what is this and how do I fix this?
Thank you!
Also, all of the interfaces that are receiving the warning/alerts are currently down and not connected.
@klovi I don't have an example in the lab to test, but have you taken a look the Manage Hardware Sensors Page and simply disabled those particular sensors? That might be the quickest route. I found a quick post that has a fairly good description of the functionality here: https://community.fs.com/blog/check-sfp-module-optical-signal-strength.html
However in a quick glance across our community, and others, it appears that often times Cisco devices report statuses back for these sensors, even if the related interfaces are shutdown. Unfortunately that means that we are simply polling what is represented on behalf of the device. You could configure your alerts to suppress this type of sensor, or as I mentioned above, disable the hardware sensor itself while you investigate whether actually monitoring this value is something important for your organization to monitor.
Others may have additional suggestions, hopefully this helps.
HI
I see that alot on various cisco devices. Several time it's just nothing connected to the interface, or it just alerts anyway.
Most times I go into "Manage hardware sensors" under settings, check the sensors affected, choose "edit threshold" and "Force to up". That way it will not alert you but you can see the value.
Best you can do I believe.
