Solarwinds Upgrade Plan

Hi Team,

We are using below versions of solarwinds Product:

NPM 12.2
NCM 7.7
NTA 4.2.3
Orion 2017.3.5 SP5

We are prepared design and hardware & software requirement for the solarwinds latest versions (2020.2.4) and waiting for budget approval.
Hope, we will complete the implementation process before this month end (31st March 2021). Will it make a production impact as per the link which is mentioned below?

I am reading between lines and feel this may be a migration to new application servers and or SQL Server, which if this is the case you need to review the following KB's which are very detailed on the process:

Migrate to new Hostname

Migrate with same Hostname

If you are doing an in place upgrade, the same base process applies as above:

1. Backups - SQL databases backed up and validated. Take VM snapshots for machine level backup

2. Always use a LOCAL administrator account when installing Orion

3. Disable UAC and DEP on the main Orion server

4. Review potential issues with Anti Virus software interfering and temporarily disable live scanning if it will slow or block the process

5. You have a single step upgrade path, but confirm that you have supporting OS and SQL Server versions (NTA and Log modules must have 2016+)

6. Disable HA if using it and disable alert actions whilst you upgrade

7. Upgrade primary Orion server first, then use the central Web UI to upgrade and additional role servers
