I want to send a message to the user "username" . But I can't. Thwack says "username" cannot message. Whats wrong?

Can you share a screenshot of the error you're getting? Both on the message page and the tag section covering your typing. This will help us troubleshoot more effectively.
Unfortunately I can't attach a file. I can only insert it. And in the Upload dialog when I hover over "Upload" the mouse cursor doesn't change. So it's not clear that this can be clicked.
The default settings allow private messages from friends only. You will need to add this person as a friend in order to be able to message them.
