New Thwack... wondering how the new products groups will work and help with SEM!

The best thing so far is threaded replies so you can see who replied to who... I still can't understand how any platform wouldn't have that? Anyhow so I have the latest SEM installed in a new area and am about to upgrade my 2020.2.1 larger system to latest version. I got some conflicting info at first and opened a case because some docs said I could upgrade directly to 2020.4.1 and another doc said I had to upgrade to a version in between first. Then after I pointed to the main doc that says 2020.2.1 -> 2020.4.1 support said go for it. Suffice it to say that didn't exactly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

What was the document that said you couldn't go from 2020.2.1 to 2020.4.1? We can get that fixed.

Bill, I opened the link you sent and it states the same thing I just sent you. You will need to upgrade to 2020.2.2 before you can upgrade to 2020.4.1. Also, if you were to upgrade from 2020.2.1 directly to 2020.4.1 it will most likely fail. Please upgrade to 2020.2.2 before upgrading to 2020.4.1 Let me know if this answers your questions. You can go from 2020.2.1 to 2020.4.1 without an issue.

I will get that document updated to reflect this.

Thanks Chris! I guessed that was the case but I'm always extra careful with this specific VM. The nice thing it is a VM so worst case I can roll back to snapshot of it or even a Commvault backup if there wasn't a snapshot.

Bill,

It won't cause an issue if it fails. The upgrade does a check to make sure the environment is valid for the upgrade. If it is not, it reverts back to the previous version.
