Best method for displaying customer details & 'managed' status of a node.

Hi Thwack,

I've inherited NPM from the company I work for. We're a MSP & ISP. We have several different vendors for firewalls we manage and/or monitor for our customers in the form of nodes in NPM. By default I don't have all the details I'd like to see in a node. For example, I want to clearly see, ideally, at a glance if the node is 'managed' by our company vs simply monitored. 'Managed' to us would require a proactive action so speed is of import. 

Lastly, Id like to be able to get into a node and pull up some customer information like their name and billing acct #

I'm not sure if I should use groups and/or custom tags to get this accomplished and I was wondering what the community thought best practice would be.

That sounds like the kind of thing I would use a Custom Property for. I think they are amazing and have so many uses.

One of the versatile parts of I've had to explain to others in my organization is that they are completely independent from one another. It can be a managed, tier 2, low priority, and also have a completely different flag to change the severity of the alert and what actions to take.

We also use these fields to store all contact information. You can then pull all these properties into an alert email. That way someone can act quickly, directly from their phone if they need to.
